OUR PEOPLE

Our Mohari family consists of ‘hand block printers’, ‘block makers’, ‘Dyers’, ‘Tailors’, ‘Hand Stitching Artists’, and more. There was a need to not only empower the artisans but also the women of this region, and this led us to also provide employment, free education, social awareness, and job training to both men and women associated with us. Since a stable employment is required for stability and growth, majority of our process is handmade which helps to generate regular employment for these people.

Our community of artisans belong to villages where basic needs like electricity, water, education, facilities lack. We responsibly contribute to uplift their life style by distributing work to the locals than creating product from factories with lot of machineries. A handmade work is better than any mass production as it uplifts the lives of artisans and encourages taking their art to next generations. Mohari also took a small step towards the road by providing free education and job training. Poverty leads local men toward drug addiction but a joyous working environment and proper wages get them to come to work every day.

All kind of workers are associated with our ‘Mohari’ family, from skilled artisans, who have inherited the skills from their forefathers, to those who got trained with us for the job of their liking. Even with mere two-three initial workers, we have made sure their constant growth. Mohari’s motive behind training these people for this work is to preserve and spread this art called “slow fashion”.

We are passionate for handmade textile art that engages more women than men for employment and encourage their growth by giving them economic support. In lot of areas women are still not getting equal wages which is one of the reasons of lack of moral strength. We believe in growth of individual irrespective of gender and hence we do not distribute work and wages on basis of gender. We are associated with many women who were not born in artisans’ family but adapted skills impeccably and proved their existence with respect.
